The earth’s atmosphere, oceans, and landmasses absorb total solar energy of 3.8 quintillion watts (enough to light up every person on Earth over 5 million times) per year! This is more than twice as much power from our nonrenewable resources coal oil natural gas all combined – but what happens when you add in photosynthesis? That number skyrockets even higher: around 6 Petawatts were absorbed by living organisms last decade alone.
